Calanthe

Senior Speech Pathologist

After graduating from Curtin University in 2017, Calanthe (pronounced ‘Cal-anth’) has gained paediatric experience across a variety of settings in rural and metropolitan areas in WA, including government, not-for-profit, community and school-based environments.

Calanthe is passionate about delivering holistic, child-led early intervention services to families, and is a Hanen-certified therapist with additional training in the It Takes Two To Talk program, Key Word Sign, Natural Language Acquisition (Gestalt Language Processing), Lidcombe stuttering intervention, the Sounds-Write literacy program, Talk 4 Writing narrative intervention, and the Dynamic Tactile and Temporal Cueing (DTTC) approach for motor speech disorders. She has extensive experience working with autistic clients, intellectual disabilities, global developmental delay, late talkers, stuttering, specific learning disorders (also known as dyslexia), and speech sound disorders.

Calanthe believes that everyone deserves the right to be able to communicate effectively and works in partnership with families and other services (e.g. schools, daycares, health professionals) to implement play-based, neurodiversity-affirming treatment that suits the individual needs of each child. In sessions, Calanthe prioritises improving overall wellbeing and quality of life, whilst targeting treatment goals in fun, interactive activities that foster each child’s personal interests. Her main areas of interest include early language development, stuttering intervention, selective mutism, speech sound disorders, and behaviour supports.

Outside of the office, you will usually find Calanthe sewing, crocheting, building ceramics, or visiting her favourite handmade markets.
